Airbnb truly has global presence. Their homes and experiences pop up in every part of the world, just waiting for people to discover. To mark New Year’s Eve 2014, Airbnb wanted to share this idea with the public in a fun, light hearted and explorable way. So we created The Belong Anywhere Globe: an explorable, zoomable WebGL earth packed with custom illustrations of people, bears, camels, pyramids, skyscrapers and more. As you pan around to see pulsing dots correlated to real geolocated reservation data you really get the feel of just how global Airbnb is.

I acted as creative director and developer on this project, collaborating with the highest levels at airbnb to conceive of how to make an interactive globe fun and discoverable. Myself and one specialist WebGL dev built a site that progressively managed memory on globe covered in sprite animations and high res zoom tiles.
